Introducing Jack Thompsett

Jack founded his deep connection to the outdoor environment at a very young age. Growing up near the stunning Brecon Beacons in South Wales, and spending many summers in his youth exploring the French Alps provided an early start to his climbing and skiing career. After observing other outdoor professionals and their craft during his first alpine tours, he was hooked and knew that he wanted to instruct and guide others in the mountains one day.

Since then, Jack has been a keen skier, climber and alpinist, performing at a high standard in all disciplines, driven by a constant desire to further his abilities. He has a particular interest in adventurous climbing, be it putting up new routes on remote Scottish cliffs or climbing alpine North Faces.

Currently, Jack is based between Wales, Northern Scotland and the Alps, where he has been enjoying challenging himself on famous mountain routes and ridges in all seasons and great ranges of conditions. He owns Inspired Guides and works full-time to share his passion of the outdoor world with a variety of clients from beginners to seasoned mountain enthusiasts. This often includes achieving classic UK mountaineering objectives such as the impressive Cuillin ridge traverse and climbing the three famous Scottish sea stacks in a week. Jacks next aim is to complete the pre-requirements to join the British Mountain Guide Scheme, which provides the training to be able to guide skiing and climbing throughout the world!

““Working and playing in the mountains full time means I require kit that I can trust. Montane kit provides that trust. Whether scraping up a dark, cold & scary chimney in the middle of winter or skiing a steep & committing couloir, Montane has got me covered!” - Jack Thompsett
