I purchased the Montane Gecko VP 12+ after being unsatisfied with the Salomon equivalent.
The stretch material makes the Gecko very spacious and I had plenty of room for more kit than I needed on a recent 50km trail ultra.
The front pockets are large enough to comfortably fit the largest mobile phones for easy access (I have a Samsung Galaxy Ultra) and there's no bounce with the pack or the water bottles.
My only feedback would be that the pole attachments are a bit fidly and so I think that future models would benefit from a quiver-esque functionality for easy storage.

This is a great pack. I previously had a Salomon adv 12 which was far inferior to this pack. This pack is far more robust and durable. I actually had 2 adv 12s and both had issues with fabric ripping, stitching coming undone and zips not working. The gecko is a great pack (which is probably due an upgrade) but holds loads of gear, fits really comfortably. I was worried about the velcro bit but that is fine, the chest straps are a little fiddly and don't always stay tight (these are what I'd upgrade) and I haven't had any issue with things coming out of the stuff pockets but again these could be upgraded but I'm clutching at straws. A great pack that is far superior to others out there.

Perfect for multistage, multi day racing where up to 12 hours were spent running on the Highlands.
So comfortable you forget it’s on. Loads of room for all mandatory equipment, food, hydration and medications which I can’t run without. Can highly recommend.
