Good lightweight emergency/occasional running jacket

The Minimus Nano is indeed very lightweight and packs down to a very small package. It is a great jacket to have as a back up on those days when it may or may not rain while out doing what you do. It is so light the material is translucent. It is a functional waterproof but I wouldn't stay out in the rain in it for hours on end.
The lightweight is not achieved without compromise though. Being close fitting, half zip design and not stretchy, the jacket is a minor fuss to put on and needs a little wrigging to get into. Not easy to put on while still moving, at least walking, as I would do with a full zip jacket. The close fit, unadjustable elasticated waist and cuffs allow little ventilation which can also turn the jacket into a sweat bag if you, if you are inclined to perspire heavily... like me!
A note about sizing, as I've already said, the Minumus Nano is a close fit, very close fit. I normally wear size large Montane jackets but could barely get into a size large Minumus Nano and had to exchange it for an XL and it's still snug.
